“Treat others the way you’d like to be treated.”
I’ve grown up in a home where I have always been told to be kind to others. I cherish this ideology. I love making others happy because it gives me fulfillment as well.
Many, like myself, practice this in their daily lives. Not just because it’s the right thing to do, but out of the goodness of our hearts. However, as a result of our compassion and generosity towards the people in our lives, we can tend to forget to be kind to ourselves.
I often see this in my mother, sacrificing her own happiness for the well being others. I’m definitely not saying it’s a bad thing; I applaud her for her selflessness. But, being the daughter of such a wonderful person, I know that she deserves some devotion of time to herself.
You are your main priority. Love yourself. Treasure yourself. Adore yourself. Not out of conceit, of course, but know that you’re entitled to your own admiration. So, treat yourself the way you like to treat others.
I myself can be inclined to neglect my wants and desires. Don’t. This is a reminder to appreciate the radiance you bring into this world. Embrace it and express an abundance of regard for your own personal interests.
